Actions Speak Louder than Words - Lesson 8 - ... in Actions
Why do we do what we do?Do we do it because we are afraid of the consequences?
Do we do it because we are in want of the reward we may receive?
Do we do it for the praise?
Do we do it because someone asked?
Do we do it because we were told to?
Do we do it because no one else will?
Do we do it because we are obligated?
Do we do it because we are getting paid to?
Do we do it because we always have and don’t exactly know why?
Do we do it because this option will hurt less people?
Do we do it because it will benefit more?
Do we do it because it is what we want?
Do we do it because God asked us to?
Do we do it because it is right?
Do we do it even though no one else is watching?
Let’s look at our actions and more specifically our intentions with those actions.
1 Samuel 2:3, ‘Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.’
1 Samuel 16:7, ‘But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.’
Psalm 94:4, ‘How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?’
Ephesians 6:6, ‘Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;’
Colossians 3:22, ‘Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:’
Psalm 15 ‘LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbor, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbor In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not. He that putteth not out his money to usery, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be move.’
1 Corinthians 6:18, ‘Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.’
1 John 2:17, ‘And the world passeth away. And the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.’
How well lit is your path?
John 3:20,21, ‘For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.’
