Truth is mighty and will prevail. -Brooks

Don't try to hold God's hand; let Him hold yours. Let Him do the holding, and you the trusting. -Webb-Peploe

Introduction on fallowed ground.

Jeremiah 4:3, ‘For thus saith the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns.’

We came from the dust.
We are just dirt.
We are referred to as clay.

We are not the potter.
We do not make and mold ourselves.
We in turn cannot make and mold others.

The Lord is telling us to break up our fallow ground.
We are told to get our soil ready.
We can do it or the Lord can do it.
We can do it in private or He will do it openly.
We can do it quickly or we can fight it.

I believe we all struggle with trust.
If we are growing in trust we can grow more.
Can you honestly say you trust the Lord more today than you did one year ago?
Do you trust the Lord with all your heart?
Most of your heart?
Or some of your heart?

If your spouse trusted you as much as you trusted the Lord
How pleased would you be with their behavior?

Psalm 37:3, ‘Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.’

I don’t believe we have ever gone hungry.
Here we are promised we will not if we trust Him.
Even when we have little food in the house there is something to eat.

Can you give testimony of this verse?

Psalm 37:5, ‘Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.’

We are all guilty of this.
Hopefully less now than we have been in the past.
Even when we think the Lord is late,
I assure you, He is always on time.

We are only promises here that is will come to pass when we trust Him.

Can you give testimony of when your lack of trust delayed an answer to prayer?
Or a delay in deliverance?

Psalm 118:8, ‘It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.’

We need to get over ourselves.

What does this verse say to you?

Proverbs 3:5, ‘Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.’

We expect the Lord to answer our prayers in the exact way he answered others.
We expect Him to do today what He did yesterday.

How are you in this area?

Psalm 32:10, ‘Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about.’

If we are sorrowful, does that imply we are wicked?

Isaiah 26:3, ‘Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.’

Why are we not in perfect peace then?

Psalm 25:2, ‘O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.’

This is a prayer we can incorporate in our daily lives.

Do you have anything to share here?

Psalm 57:1, ‘Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.’

Here is an example of a mother bird protecting her young.
If we stray too far we cannot be protected.
I believe we get a little too big for our britches at times.

What advice would you give us to seek His refuge sooner?

2Timothy 1:12, ‘For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.’

What have you committed to the Lord?
What do you try to handle on your own?

Are we teaching the next generation to trust the Lord?
Do they see us trusting the Lord?
Or do they see us living a double life?

Do we pick and choose where we allow Him to have control?
Remember 99 percent loyalty is 100 percent disloyalty.
Give it all to Him.

It is already His.
He could take it if He wants.
He wants us to give it to Him.

Can we teach our children what we have not learned?
Others are watching.
Others can see where we are weak.
We think we are fooling them, but they know.

Let’s make a commitment to trust Him.
Let’s ask forgiveness for not trusting Him enough.
Let’s ask forgiveness for not trusting Him with our all.

Today is the first day of the rest of our lives.

Conclusion on fallowed ground

Hosea 10:12, ‘Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.’
