Bend in the Road - Lesson 10 - Guidance

Do you trust Him?
Do you truly trust Him?
In all matters?
Even when you can’t see the road up ahead?

His word tells us that,
‘…no man can find out the work that God maketh
from the beginning to the end.’

He promises to light our path.
He promises the road will be narrow.
Does He guarantee it to be straight or
without hills and valleys?

When we feel the need of God's protection and guidance,
and humbly commit ourselves to Him in the way of duty,
we shall not be left to perplexity or error.
He will mark out our path for us,
and make us truly prosperous and useful.

Where God favors there is perfect happiness.

Psalm 16:11, ‘Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.’

If we are at the right hand of Christ as He is at the right hand of the Father
we are where we are supposed to be.

Why do we leave His side?

Psalm 32:8, ‘I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.’

The Lord is doing three things for us here,
Instructing, Teaching and Guiding.

How can we be more receptive to His Instruction, Teaching and Guiding?

In the midst of judgment,
Mercy and truth shall not be forgotten.
As God's chosen we shall be led safely,
and our afflictions shall be removed.

He will "… not forsake us."
So why are we sorrowful?
For God is still our friend.

Never has He deserted a sincerely believing heart,
and He never will.

Isaiah 42:16, ‘And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.’’

What does this verse say to you?

Isaiah 58:11, ‘And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.’

It says here the Lord is guiding us continually.
Why do we at times appear to be lost?

Proverbs 3:6, ‘In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.’

I believe we reviewed this verse last week.

Have you been able to put it into action?

1Chronicles 28:9, ‘And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.’

Jeremiah 10:23, ‘O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.’

He shall direct our paths.
Do we usually stub our tow in the light or in the dark?
So it is usually safer to walk in the light.
Why do we insist on walking in the dark?
Do we think the Lord can’t see us?

Luke 1:79, ‘To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.’

I think we need to sit still in the dark.
Maybe read and rest.
And wait for the light to do our traveling/

What do you have to say of this verse?

Once again in the midst of judgment,
mercy and truth shall not be forgotten.
God's chosen shall be led safely,
and our afflictions shall be removed.

Specially precious are His words, "and not forsake them."
Why are we sorrowful?
God is still our friend.

Never has He deserted a sincerely believing heart,
and He never will.
Let us, then, rest in his love,
and go forward to our life's end with exulting courage.
